I create and study autobiographical feminist performance. I am concerned with the construction of gender and how the body can be presented and represented in performance. Recently, my work has focused on the performance of the post-operative and cancer-marked body, storytelling and health/illness, stories of activism, and performance and the maternal.
I am based at the University of South Wales, where I work as Professor of Performance Studies. I am the Director of the George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling and Co-Chair of the VAWDASV Research Network Wales.
